EuroNews - Plane carrying 114 crashes in Cameroon .05/05

A massive search is underway for a Kenyan airliner which has crashed in Cameroon with 114 people on board.

At least five Britons, one American, six Chinese and 15 fifteen Indians are reported to be among the passengers, the majority of whom are from African countries.

Flight KQ 507 was headed to Nairobi from Douala when it came down shortly after take-off in a densely forested area of the West African country.

Officials say the plane, a Boeing 737-800 was only six months old and had no history of problems.

Authorities in Cameroon say they picked up a distress signal from the area where the plane went missing, but the call came from a machine and not the pilot.

Kenya Airways has a good safety record in a continent where air accidents are above the world average.
